So… what does this post have to do with weight loss, fitness and/or nutrition? Absolutely nothing! This is just a rant so take it as you will…
Most of my friends and family know that I am one of the biggest Tiger Woods fans on the planet. Tigers’ relentless pursuit of perfection and his dedication to his craft have inspired me, in life, to be my best. I can probably even attribute some of my determination through this weight loss journey to Tiger. |
As you can imagine, I was the first to jump to his defense last week when we received news of the car accident. When my wife informed me that she had heard there was more to the story I said “no way! It had to be a mechanical failure or something other than human stupidity.”
It turns out that even Tiger Woods is subject to “human stupidity”… Lord knows I have been more times in my life than I can count. Nonetheless, what has happened has happened.
Unlike the recent Seinfeld Reunion via Curb Your Enthusiasm, I’m not going to play the “that being said card”, I’m just going to state it plain.
While I realize that the world of golf and professional sports has put Tiger Woods and other high profile athletes on a pedestal, the truth remains that even though they sport million and billion dollar bank accounts they still put their pants on the same as the rest of us, everyday.
Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, David Letterman (who I respect because he had the guts to be honest about it) and a host of others (including myself, sorry to say) have strayed away from their wedding vows and gone the road of infidelity and or drugs and alcohol.
There is no excuse in this… the only thing those of us who have been guilty of such things (past or present) can do is hope for the forgiveness of family and friends while learning from the, as Tiger put it on his website (click here to read article from Tiger Woods) TRANSGRESSION.
While I’m disappointed and completely surprised by this turn of events in the life of Tiger Woods, I’d be a hypocrite if I were to turn my back. Tiger is still (in my book) the greatest golfer to ever play the game and I look forward to seeing him continue his domination of this sport in the future.
My prayers are with you and your family, Tiger, during this difficult time… but it’s time to just “man up”, tell people what happened and move forward. Hiding the truth is only going to keep people digging further. People are more likely to forgive brutal honesty than lies!
Cheers!
Rex

Great blog, Rex! The bottom line is that we are all only human. And as humans we are going through life learning and growing. Each event that happens in our lives is meant to teach us something about ourselves and something about life. The key for all of us (including Tiger) is not just apologizing for what has happened, but changing our lives based on the lessons learned from the event. So the bigger question is not just “Will Tiger man up?” but “What will he do to change his ways?”.
About Woods current issues. Yes he has issues and faults. who does not
It is time we realize he is human we tend to spend too much time idolizing sport figures and when they do not live up to OUR Ideals we abandon them, and resort to trashing them so itis refreshing to see here that there is some humanity
THE ONLY PERSON HE REALY OWES AN APOLOGY TO IS HIS FAMILY AND WIFE
The correct thing is for him to acknowledge that he has issues and get help and support from his family , professionals (if needed) and hopefully he has a genuine friend not any of those that have been on TV running their mouth. If he was not a celebrity most people would not care.
I pray that he will be back in time a stronger TIGER than ever.
as far as I am concerned those women knew exactly what they were doing
I feel no sympathy for them Just his family

Rex, it seems like money creates demons within.eventually something goes wrong.
It’s unfortunate Jen, but I think you are right. I think a big part of what happens is that people put their FAITH in the money. The rely on the money to make PROBLEMS go away, bail them out of BAD SITUATIONS and pay for SILENCE. What we are seeing with Tiger is exactly what happens when the MONEY lets you down. This is one of those situations where certain types of people smell blood in the water and swarm like sharks. Anyone who thinks they have even a remote chance of getting their cut are going to come after him now. It’s a shame… thanks for stopping by!
Absolutely Rex! Learn from the lessons that life deals to you and move on. And above all else be honest and truthful in everything that you do. No matter the situation good can be found in everything, even the bad. Take the bad, learn from what you did wrong and turn it into a positive and good situation.

Well said Mr. Bill. I hope Tiger does the right thing here, steps up, mans up and puts this to bed now. Thanks for commenting!
