Yesterdays Fat Guy Progress Report 9-8-09!

It’s nice to be at the stage where you can look in the mirror and see the progress made. Right now the weight is coming off steadily and I’m ready to see it go!

GBG Energy Matrix is fueling the workouts and functioning very well as a fat burner. I’ve never had much luck with fat burners so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I added Energy Matrix to my weight loss plan.

The gym has been the best addition to the plan. Once the gym was part of the daily routine the weight really started to come off. I’ve been pretty amazed at how well the body adapts to a fitness regimen. The first week in the gym was brutal. The first night I tried the elliptical machine I lasted about five minutes. Now I can do 30 to 40 depending on my workout plan for the day. For those who have been on the fence about getting back into exercise… just start. Your body will come around!

I know there are several schools of thought now concerning calories, but keeping track is working for me. It sure makes sense when it comes to weight loss, especially when you do the math.

Here’s to the continued progress of all who are working hard to lose weight and make a positive change in their life!

Cheers!

Yesterdays Fat Guy Weight Loss Update 9/6/09

Well, another week has come and gone. Fortunately, I’m a little lighter! Today the scales were kind, weighing me in at 290 lbs! I was a bit nervous getting on the scales today as I took a few, shall we say, “liberties” while on our road trip to Phoenix.

To date, that makes 47 pounds total lost since the day of surgery back in October of 2008, 39 pounds lost since the issue of the challenge back in January and 10 pounds lost since adding GBG Energy Matrix to the mix.

My latest tape measurement showed the loss of an additional three inches since the last video. I’ll have a new video posted with the recent updates in the next 48 hours.

I’m continuing to struggle with eating at night. My appetite is ferocious and it doesn’t matter what I try… added fiber, suppressants, I just fiend for food at night. Most of the time I’m able to clench my fists and get through but some nights it doesn’t matter what I try, the cravings are just too intense.

Other than that, things are going well. I’ve been able to increase the intensity of my workouts again now that my back is feeling better. This week my mission is to burn a minimum of 1500 calories per workout.

Before I wrap up this update I want to give a “tip of the hat” to 24 Hour Fitness. My decision to join this gym continues to prove that they were a solid choice. This past week they added in an awesome new “Cardio Theater” system as well as a set of new treadmills and a couple of elliptical machines. I didn’t get a chance to try out the new elliptical machines today but I did spend a few minutes on the new treadmill and was very impressed.

Here’s to a great week ahead!

Cheers!

How to burn fat and lose your belly

I’ve been doing more research on how to burn fat, especially that of belly fat. After all, burning fat equals greater weight loss. You would be amazed at how many theories, ideas and diets exist when it comes to the the subject of how to burn fat.

Most of my fat is stored in my mid section giving me a pear shape. While this has shrunk considerably since the start of my weight loss journey, I still have a a long ways to go before it’s all gone.

It just doesn’t seem like you can get rid of belly fat fast enough. For whatever reason you might want it gone, in my case, I seem to be losing the weight everywhere else but my gut. I know that it’s shrinking based on current tape measurement but, as I was telling my wife yesterday, I just don’t feel like the change has been that noticeable yet. You’d think that it would register with you, a bit more, when you were approaching the 50 lb. loss mark.

Nonetheless, onward and forward. What I’m doing at the gym combined with a proper diet and the use of GBG Energy Matrix as a fat burner is working well… I just need to be patient.

Here’s is a listing of some of the things I found online that you may find interesting or helpful. Some are a bit extreme so use caution and make sure to talk to your doctor or trainer before attempting any of this.

1.) The Ketogenic Diet – Most common use is the treatment of epilepsy in children by fooling the body. Seems like there’s a lot of that going around these days.

2.) Using green tea is also been linked to the burning of belly fat. I’ve noticed that there are several weight loss products that utilize green tea or a combination of green teas and caffeine to burn fat.

3.) Aerobic exercise and a healthy diet are highly recommended for the reduction of abdominal obesity.

4.) Grapefruit – I found several references online to the use of grape fruit for the reduction and elimination of belly fat.

5.) The Flat Belly Diet – Here’s a diet plan I found using Wikipedia. The claim is that a dieter can lose 7 pounds in 96 hours following this plan.

I hope you find this information useful, but again I must encourage you to seek the advice of a health or medical professional before making drastic changes.

Cheers!

Throwing your body a curveball? A weight loss strategy!

It’s interesting how the human body works when it comes to getting fit and losing weight. For five weeks I held to a solid routine that helped me drop a quick 21 pounds in the first four weeks, only to hit a plateau on week five, where I didn’t lose a pound.

Then last week, I hurt my back, start a new product, drastically decrease exercise and lost another six pounds, bringing me to my current weight of 294. Finally… back below 300 pounds for the first time since I can’t even remember.

In all of this, I got to thinking while I was at the gym today, about something I saw on TV recently that, perhaps, explains a little of what happened to me last week. In essence, it’s kind of like throwing your body a curve ball.

It seems as though that the more you change what you are doing to your body the better the results. There’s a popular fitness program right now that teaches something very similar to this theory. They call it muscle confusion. People are getting great results in a short period of time by putting their body through rigorous exercise. However, the change is that the exercise changes constantly.

This could very well explain part of why my weight dropped by another six pounds over the last week. Not only did my exercise level change but so did my diet. The only thing consistent over the last week was my calorie intake. I was very careful to make sure that I did not exceed the 1500 daily calorie budget. I’ve been following because of the fact that I was unable to the gym for five days.

Now that I’m back in the gym I’m having to take things easy so I don’t injur my back again. It will be interesting to see (this week) how my body responds to being back in calorie burning mode.

On a side note, I want to share something I’ve been eating with that is helping big time.   Now this isn’t going to be for everyone, but you can use it as a lunch or snack, it’s very filling and it really helps curb the appetite.  It’s a simple Tuna salad made up of 2 cups of lettuce, 1 can of Tuna (reduce by half for snack), a half a cup of thawed frozen peas or mixed veggies, a little pepper and a splash of light vinegar based dressing.  In total, you’re looking at a total of no more than 250 calories if you use a full can of Tuna.  I’ve been eating these for lunch and a snack.

Between that and the GBG Energy Matrix (which is helping with appetite suppression) I’m finding it very easy to stay within the remaining 1000 calories I’m alloting right now due to the limited daily exercise.   This week I’m only burning about 500 calories per workout due to the back but things ar improving and I expect to be adding more burn over the next two to three days.

Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you soon!

Six pounds gone since starting GBG Energy Matrix

I wouldn’t have believed it had it not happened to me. It’s almost comical the way this went down. Who would have guessed… lol. God works in mysterious ways!

For those who have been following along, a week ago today I was at the gym, just about ready to wrap up my workout, when I pulled a muscle in my lower back. It just so happens this happened on the same day that I started Energy Matrix by GBG.

I had my whole week planned out with video documentation, weigh ins, etc. When my body decided it wasn’t going to cooperate last week it put a kink in my plans, or so I thought.

So, here I found myself sitting on the heating pad, working online without any exercise for four days. The only thing I had to keep the weight loss going (or at least I hoped) was energy matrix.

The irony to all of the is that the week previous to starting Energy Matrix I worked my tail off in the gym and hit my first plateau. I was all excited about finally getting below the 300 pound mark but, lo and behold, it wasn’t meant to be, just then.

Yesterday I was able to get back into the gym and at least burn some calories, but I still have a long way to go before the back will be 100%. Today when I went to the gym I figured I better check my weight to determine my calorie budget for this week based on the fact I’m only burning half of what I can during a full workout.

I set the scale to 300 pounds today and there it sat, bottomed out. Not just tapping at the bottom, it was hard core bottomed out at the 300 pound mark. Finally, after 7 months of trying, failing and trying again I was finally below 300 pounds. As I reset the scale at 298 it was still bottomed out which really got me excited. By the time I had the scale dialed in, there is sat at 294 pounds… a six pound loss since my weigh in last week with next to NO exercise.

So, I can say with great confidence that, once again, GBG Energy Matrix is doing exactly what it claims it will do.

Previous to this past week, I was burning 6500 to 7500 calories plus per week… last week I burned a total of about 1200 during my Monday workout, just before my back decided it needed a break. The rest was all eating right and Energy Matrix.

I’ve noticed several significant changes in my body in my first week using Energy Matrix, one of the most noticeable being a HUGE decrease in appetite, which is most welcome. I LOVE to eat, always have. I’ve also noticed a big change in my blood sugar. Since using this product my craving for water has decreased substantially. Of course, the energy boost has been great. I’ve also notice a significant increase in the ability to focus and stay on task with certain things.

I’m certainly sold on this. GBG has released a winner with Energy Matrix! Here’s to reaching 250 lbs soon!

Cheers!

GBG Energy Matrix arrives!

Needless to say I was quite eager for the arrival of my first shipment of GBG Energy Matrix today. Once I had the box in my hot little hands it was only a matter of minutes before the package was opened and I was using the product for the first time.

At present (3:55 p.m. PST) it’s been about an hour since consuming my first beverage. Talk about super charging a bottle of water, wow! The energy boost was immediate… within 15 minutes (bottle wasn’t even finished) I felt the energy boost and as I am writing this post, the boost is not only still there, it’s increasing! I can hardly wait to use this before and during my workout tomorrow.

As far as flavor is concerned I was a little concerned. So many times we hear of the latest and greatest in products, but once we get them, their flavor does not live up to the hype. That was not the case with Energy Matrix. By the time I reached the bottom of the bottle there wasn’t a weird after taste. I was expecting something a little on the sweet side, but this is more light… very “sports drink” ish with a hint of herbal flavor.

Now the real test starts. Now that the product is here I will be doing an extensive five day test on the product to see how it does in helping with weight loss. I will be creating video to document the results as I go and hope to publish the video findings early next week.

Welcome to Yesterdays Fat Guy with Rex Harris

Thanks for stopping by Yesterdays Fat Guy!  Today marks the official launch of this blog and the relaunch of a weight loss and fitness journey that I hope will inspire others to take action and make a change for the better in their lives.

After my weigh in two days ago (8/11/09) I am (for the first time in years) on the threshold of being below 300 pounds.  In total, I’ve lost 37 pounds this year on a mission to lose 100.

If you look at the video on the right, you will see a weigh in from earlier this year.  While there is much less of me now I still have a long way to go.

At present, my current routine consists of no more than 1800 calories per day.  I’m also back in the gym (thanks 24 Hour Fitness!) where I’m burning 1000 calories per day using the eliptical machine, the treadmill and a series of muscle fitness exercises and resistance. Since going back to the gym, the loss of weight has increased dramatically with my biggest one week loss of seven pounds coming this past week.

I’m also gearing up to do a full video series on Energy Matrix by GBG.  This is the world first thermogenic fat burning energy drink that is diabetic safe!  Early tests (done by the company) indicate incredible results with this product with limited or no exercise.  The company also offers people the opportunity to start their own business using this product… so long story short, you can earn great money by sharing it with others.

It’s time to head to the gym, come back for updates anytime.  All participation is appreciated!  Don’t forget to click the Mind and Body Makeover banner on the right to get your free box set compliments of Team Xtreme!

Cheers!
